Abstract

North Rift Kenya has many farmers who fail to manage to make ends meet and keep engaging in the poverty trap.  This study, therefore, aimed at determining the influence of entrepreneurial proactiveness on productivity of small-scale agribusiness grain farmers in North Rift, Kenya.  The study adopted the positivist research tenets through adopting a descriptive survey research approach.  The target audience of this message was almost 497,737 small-scale grain farmers in North Rift, Kenya.  We calculated the sample size using Formula of Yamane that gave us the sample size of 400 responders.  Data collection was through the administration of a questionnaire.  In order to analyze the data, SPSS was utilized version 25.  Metadata contained descriptive as well as inferential statistics.  The data were provided graphically in terms of figures, frequency tables and pie-charts, whereas the descriptive statistics were summarized in terms of percentages, means and standard deviations.  Inferential statistics were used to test the hypothesis of the study.  Findings have shown that there was a positive and statistically significant level of correlation between the levels of proactivity in small-scale agribusiness grain producers and their success.  The performance of the North Rift, Kenya small-scale agribusiness grain farmers was found to have a significant relationship with the entrepreneurial pro-activeness (b=0.621, t=17.063, p=0.000<0.05), and their R2 value was 0.423.  To better meet the desires of their customers, the study proposed that teams of farmers conduct market research on a regular basis to find out emerging trends and demands.
