HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND QUALITY HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN SELECTED PUBLIC HOSPITALS IN LIBERIA

Quality implementation of healthcare services is essential for the welfare and economic growth of health institutions in Liberia, as they are crucial for the country's human resource development. However, hospitals in Liberia are currently grappling with challenges of availability of strong, capable and motivated workforce. The study focused on establishing the effect of human resource management practices and quality healthcare services in selected public hospitals in Liberia. The specific objective was to determine the effect of recruitment on quality healthcare services at the John F. Kennedy Medical Centre and the Redemption hospital in Liberia. The researcher used a positivist philosophy while the research design was descriptive design with a target population as 141 respondents. A census of all 141 respondents was used with data collected using questionnaires. Quantitative data was gathered and analyzed using Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0. The findings established that recruitment had a positive and significant relationship with quality healthcare service (r= 0.494, p<0.05). The study concluded that lack of proactive induction process has compromised the quality healthcare services in public hospitals in Liberia. The study recommends that the recruitment process in public hospitals in Liberia should be revamped through allocation of requisite budget to support these exercise for strengthening quality healthcare services for citizens.
